Old Dominion University, home of the "Lady Monarchs", realized that the sound system for the Field House wasoutdated and not adequate for the large audiences that were attending these sporting events. The Facilities Maintenance Plant contacted Dynamic Systems Integration to design a new sound system for the facility that would meet their current and future needs. Dynamic Systems Integration designed and installed a new Sound Reinforcement System for the ODU Field House. The system utilizes a center cluster of four, full-range speaker cabinets, two-stage clusters and six satellite clusters for voice and music reinforcement. The system is computer controlled, utilizing the Crown IQ System and the TOA Dacsys System, allowing different preset configurations for different types of events. The system provides for automatic microphone mixing, graphic and parametric equalization, amplifier status monitoring and multiple-zone signal delay. For sports events, the center cluster can be referenced at 0 milliseconds and the six satellite clusters can be time-aligned to the center cluster. For stage events, either the West Cluster or the South Cluster may be selected as the point source cluster while, simultaneously, the center and satellite clusters are time aligned. In addition, a switching computer located in the equipment rack controls the levels of each cluster group. This design sets the stage for future up-grades and expansion as the needs arise for ODU. |
